Who We Are

Our History

The College & Career Access Center (CCAC) was founded in 2008 to expand access to college and career opportunities for students across Jackson County.

Launched alongside the Jackson Legacy Scholarship Program through the Jackson Community Foundation, the CCAC was created to support both traditional and non-traditional students in planning for life after high school.

What began as a focused effort to improve access to higher education has grown into a county-wide resource—providing students and families with the guidance, tools, and support they need to navigate their future with confidence.

What We Believe

At the CCAC, our work is grounded in a simple belief:

Every student deserves a clear, supported path to a successful future after high school.

We believe:

  • that all ll students should enroll in a post-secondary or job training program where they will prosper and emerge prepared to lead a productive and satisfying life.
  • in the he successful matching and fitting of each student to post-secondary institutions, career training, or work-based positions that meet his or her unique goals, needs, and criteria.
  • that one-on-one college and career advising with students and their families is the foundation for an overall positive post-secondary transition.
  • that well-trained, passionate advisors bring valuable perspectives and experiences that help students get on the appropriate pathway for their postsecondary careers.

Our Focus

Our work is centered around three key pillars that guide how we support students:

Aspiration
Every student sees a future beyond high school and expects to pursue education or training.

Affordability
Every student is financially prepared to complete a degree or credential.

Navigation
Every student has a clear plan and successfully takes their next step after graduation.

Our Impact

Today, our College & Career Advisors work directly with students and families across 13 school districts in Jackson County, providing:

  • College and career planning
  • Financial aid and scholarship support
  • Workshops and one-on-one advising

Through strong partnerships with schools and the community, we continue to remove barriers and create opportunities for student success.

Looking Ahead

Together, we are building a future where every student in Jackson County has the tools, knowledge, and support to achieve their goals.
