Kids2College and Pathways to Professional Skilled Trades

About the Initiative
The CCAC introduced the Kids 2 College (K2C) initiative in 2014 to help 8th grade students begin thinking about education and career opportunities after high school.
K2C provides students with classroom learning experiences focused on the importance of post-secondary education, career exploration, and planning for the future. Students also receive information they can take home and discuss with their families.
In 2016, the CCAC added the Pathways to Professional Skilled Trades (PPST) component to expand student awareness of skilled trades and career training opportunities. This addition helps students learn more about skilled trades pathways, training options, and careers available in the region.
Together, Kids 2 College and Pathways to Professional Skilled Trades give students early exposure to a variety of college, career training, and workforce options. Through classroom activities, hands-on learning, and visits to colleges, manufacturers, and local businesses, students are encouraged to explore multiple pathways and begin building a plan for life after high school.
