Community Outreach
The College & Career Access Center is committed to meeting people where they are. Through community outreach, we bring college and career advising, workshops, and resources directly to organizations, events, and community spaces throughout Jackson County.
On-Site Advising and Workshops
The CCAC partners with local organizations to provide regular on-site advising and workshops for community members. We currently partner with Interfaith Shelter and AWARE Shelter to offer support around college planning, career exploration, financial aid, scholarships, job training, and next steps after high school or into a new career pathway.
CCAC on the Road
Through our CCAC on the Road initiative, our team visits local businesses and organizations to share information about CCAC services and opportunities available throughout the State of Michigan for educational and career advancement.
These presentations help connect employees and community members with resources related to college enrollment, career training, financial aid opportunities, workforce development programs, and other pathways that can support their personal and professional goals.
Community Referrals
Through our partnership with the Jackson Community Care Hub, the CCAC receives referrals for individuals interested in furthering their education or career. Our team reaches out to those referrals to schedule one-on-one consultations and help individuals get started with the planning process.
Community Events
The CCAC attends events throughout the year to connect with residents, share resources, and increase awareness of college and career opportunities. These events may include Juneteenth celebrations, Hispanic Heritage Festival, job fairs, and other community events that allow us to engage directly with Jackson County residents.
