School-Based Advising
School-Based Advising
The College & Career Access Center provides school-based advising services to students across the 13 Jackson County school districts.
Throughout the school year, our College & Career Advisors work directly within schools to provide students with college and career information, individualized support, and post-secondary planning resources. Through one-on-one consultations, classroom presentations, and workshops, advisors create a familiar and supportive presence for students as they explore their future plans.
Our goal is to help students identify opportunities, navigate challenges, and build a clear plan for life after high school.
One-on-One Advising
Advising is most effective when students feel comfortable, supported, and understood. The CCAC strives to cultivate an atmosphere of trust and open communication through individualized advising services.
Our advising process is student-centered, meaning students share their goals, interests, and plans for the future while advisors provide guidance, resources, and support to help create a pathway forward.
One-on-one advising may include:
- College and career exploration
- Postsecondary planning
- FAFSA and financial aid support
- Scholarship assistance
- Career assessments
- Resume development
- Interview preparation
- Skilled trades and workforce pathways
Sometimes advising sessions simply provide students with the opportunity to discover possibilities and explore options they may not have previously considered.
Workshops & Presentations
In addition to individual advising, CCAC Advisors provide presentations and workshops throughout the school year designed to help students prepare for post-secondary success.
Topics may include:
- College applications
- Scholarships
- FAFSA and financial aid
- Resume writing
- Skilled trades and career pathways
- Career and college planning
These presentations help students build awareness, stay informed about important deadlines and opportunities, and feel more confident about planning for their future.
