Data Dashboard

Welcome to our College & Career Access Center Dashboard

Here you will find the data and measurements by which we measure our success on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. The CCAC has a simple mission: "Navigating ALL Jackson County residents to productive careers through the pursuit of appropriate career training or post-secondary education." Inspired by our vision of each Jackson County resident attaining a valuable post-secondary credential by 2030, we are committed to the following beliefs:

  • All students enroll in a post-secondary or job training program where they will prosper and emerge prepared to lead a productive and satisfying life.
  • The successful matching and fitting of each student to post-secondary institutions, career training, or work-based positions that meet his or her unique goals, needs, and criteria.
  • One on one college and career advising with students and their families is the foundation for an overall positive post-secondary transition.
  • Well trained, passionate advisors who bring valuable perspectives and experiences for getting students on the appropriate pathway for their post-secondary careers.

For the 2015-16 academic year, the CCAC added a skilled trades componentto its established Kids2College curriculum, creating Kids2College/Pathways to Professional Skilled Trades (KK2C/PPST). This addition was designed to offer students exposure to opportunities within the field of skilled trades as well as college awareness. The graphs show measurements, by percentage, of student feedback on the expanded program, beginning in 2016. Feedback is captured on a post-tour survey which asks such questions as:

  • Was the tour a good use of your time?
  • Did the program increase your knowledge?
  • Are you now more likely to pursue college/skilled trades?

The colors of the bars - blue, red, and orange - represent the academic years: 2016 - 2020. The percentage difference between 2016 and 2020 demonstrates a steady increase in the value of this initiative as seen from the students’ perspective.

2022-23 marked the eighth year the CCAC has offered the Juniors Over the Local Circuit (JOLC) program. This valuable initiative offers every Junior within the 13 Connected Community Schools a visit to the three local Institutions of Higher Education: Jackson College, Baker College, and Spring Arbor University. Students are given the opportunity to visit the campuses of a community college, a career college, and a liberal arts university. The graphs demonstrate measurement of student feedback regarding the value associated with their visits and tours.

Another measure the CCAC monitors closely is the number of students entering a 2-4yr institution within the first six months to a year after high school. This graph shows the percentage rates from 2011 - 2019 for traditional students entering a 2 - 4yr institution within 6 months of graduation. As we strive toward meeting this challenge each year, the CCAC optimistically maintains a goal of 68% for graduating seniors.

Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is one of the leading indicators of whether or not a student will attend a 2 - 4yr institution. These charts indicate our efforts for 2018 and 2019 graduates. (*as of September 30, 2019). The CCAC takes great pride in exceeding our previous goal of 70% FAFSA completion. Having achieved that objective, we have raised the bar to a new countywide completion goal of 74%.

In 2008, the College Access Center was formed to assist the Jackson Community Foundation (JCF) in its creation of the Jackson Legacy Scholarship. Over the last decade, evolving into the College & Career Access Center, the CCAC continues to promote JCF and the local scholarship opportunities offered annually to Jackson County students. The graph indicates total completed applications for the Jackson Legacy, the Myer and Lois Franklin, and all competitive scholarships for each year since 2011. The sharp increase from 106 in 2013 to 368 in 2014 coincides with the inception of the Franklin Scholarship as well as the year CCAC advisors were placed in Jackson’s 13 Connected Community Schools; bringing student awareness to JCF’s local scholarship opportunities.

The Tuition Incentive Program is offered to students in the state of Michigan who are eligible for tuition assistance, based on having received Medicaid for 24 out of 36 consecutive months, from age 9 to 18. The program covers 2 years of tuition and fees at the in-district rate for students pursuing an associate degree from a Michigan-based community college as well $1,000 per year in year’s 3 and 4 of their bachelor’s from participating Michigan institutions. The CCAC is proud to bring awareness to this benefit, for which 39.2% of Jackson County’s 2019-20 Seniors were eligible.  Though Jackson County has averaged 84.5% completion over the last 5 years, the CCAC maintains an ambitious goal of 100% application completion for this valuable benefit.
