The College & Career Resource Center
Trained advisors will assist students in identifying colleges and programs that match their areas of interest; offering step-by-step instruction. Our knowledgeable staff will advise and counsel on various options, including:
- Trade and vocational schools
- Certification programs
- Enlistment in the military
- College and university options
- Traditional and non-traditional career paths
Our doors are open six days a week. Feel free to schedule an appointment for 1 on 1, personalized advising. Our computers are also available for researching, filing or applying online, and creating documents. As a resource center, we strive to meet our clients' needs by providing access to all of the necessary tools for success.
Our Areas of Expertise
Financial Aid Assistance:
Our staff will provide confidential assistance in navigating the financial aid process:
- Determining the cost of school
- Initiating or renewing FAFSA
- Scholarships
- Public and private loans
- Subsidized vs unsubsidized loans
Scholarship Application Assistance:
The College & Career Access Center supports the Jackson Community Foundation and its many local scholarships. Please contact us to be added to our monthly email. We assist students in applying for the foundation's Jackson Legacy Scholarship. We also have the resources to search application information and requirements for hundreds of community, state, national, and international scholarships.
College Application and Admissions Advising
We assist students in all phases of the college application and admissions process; including important deadlines and additional paperwork. From the initial search for the right school to your letter of acceptance, we will be your resource for access and information.
Career Assessment and Advising:
We provide information on career options as well as tools for successful entry into the workforce. The staff will assist in:
- Job search
- Construction of resume and cover letters
- Preparation for the interview process
Parental Advising:
We assist parents in preparation for their children's post-high school success. Some areas of concern for parents include:
- Parent IRS information requested on the FAFSA
- Determining the cost of college
- Funding options
- The cost of living on campus vs commuting
- PLUS loan options
